Valtellina Superiore DOCG
The Valtellina Superiore DOCG appellation of origin is dedicated to red, firm and dry wines produced in Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio, starting from the Nebbiolo grape variety (locally called “Chiavennasca “) for at least 90% of the total. Within the Valtellina Superiore DOCG wine production area you can find the subareas Maroggia, Sassella, Grumello, Inferno, Valgella. The minimum aging period of Valtellina Superiore DOCG is twenty-four months, of which at least twelve in wooden barrels. Wines may carry “reserve” qualification if subjected to an aging period of at least three years.
