Premium Lugana DOC from Scolari, historical winery next to Lake Garda.
The colour is a straw yellow with golden highlights. At the nose you can immediately get mineral notes, flowers and apple. Fresh and mineral, long and persistent finish.
Scolari has also another type of Lugana, we tasted both and there’s a slightly difference due to the vineyards and winemaking process. The Premium version has a bit more acidity and minerality, while the other version (blue label) is more sweet and fruity.
View more informationVines have grown in this district since the Bronze Age (1200 BC), with proof found in the Lower Garda stilt houses. Moreover, in ancient times the area south of Lake Garda was covered by the “Selva Lucana” (giving rise to the name “Lugana”), dense, swampy woods reclaimed in the 1400s by order of “La Serenissima”, the Republic of Venice.
The harvest is hand-picked in late September / early October. Once the grapes arrive at the winery the process starts with a soft-pressed, cold settling, slow fermentation at controlled temperature (16°C – 18°C) and at the end aged in steel on fine lees.
